Brainstorming on Living Together
A day of reflection to this effect took place at the Yaoundé Mont Febe Hotel, under the Chairperson of the President of the Commission, Peter MAFANY MUSONGE, in the presence of some members of government and other Commission Chairpersons.
Participants at the brainstorming day on the 11th of April, 2019 were members of the NCPBM, University Professors, Journalists, representatives of some ministries and members of the civil society.
Opening the one-day event, the NCPBM President, Peter MAFANY MUSONGE said the reflection came at a moment when the Country is rocked by problems, notably terrorist attacks by BOKO HARAM, claims by Lawyers and Teachers which have degenerated into terrorist and secessionist attacks in the NW and SW Regions, the predominance of ethnic discrimination and an upsurge of hate speech. He added that tribalism, xenophobia, the rejection of one another and post electoral protests are putting National Unity at stake and Living Together in danger.
The brainstorming thus had as main objective to clearly define the concept of Living Together, and come up with concrete ways and means that could guide Cameroonians to effectively live together.
The exercise, moderated by Isaac NJIFAKOUE was spread out in three parts. The first was a presentation by Professor KISITO FORBI on the political, legal and institutional definition of “Living Together”.
The second presentation on the various experiences of “living Together” was handled by Professor MPOCHE KIZITUS, while Professor Charly Gabriel MBOCK dwelled on the strategies and mechanisms for the promotion of «Living Together”.
At each level, participants came up with proposals and recommendations for a harmonious Living Together in Cameroon. The Secretary General, Dr.CHI ASAFOR Cornelius will pilot the collation of all these recommendations for eventual transmission to the Head of State.
The brainstorming day was closed by the Vice President, Oumarou DJIKA, who thanked the experts for their rich and wonderful contribution.
It should be recalled that the background work of the brainstorming day was prepared by the working group on Living Together, headed by NCPBM member, minister ABOUEM à TCHOYI David.
